kyvvu init

What you'll learn: How kyvvu init scaffolds a new agent project.

Usage

 Usage: kyvvu init [OPTIONS] [project_name]

Create a new Kyvvu agent project.

What it does

Scaffolds project files — no authentication required:

  • agent.py — demo agent with four decorated steps (call_llm, fetch_user_data, send_reply, run_script). It picks its path when it runs: with no KV_API_KEY it needs no account and runs offline against the bundled baseline; with a key it registers on the platform
  • requirements.txt — kyvvu dependency
  • .env.example — environment variable template. When the CLI is logged in (kyvvu auth) to an API other than https://platform.kyvvu.com, it sets KV_API_URL to that API, so the agent calls the environment your key came from rather than the default
  • .gitignore — standard Python gitignore
  • README.md — project documentation
  • AGENTS.md — instructions for coding agents working in the project (kept if one exists)

Your agent is governed from its first step by Kyvvu's bundled baseline (15 policies, OWASP + EU AI Act). Offline, the agent loads it itself and prints its trace in the terminal; once you set KV_API_KEY, the platform applies it automatically when the agent registers — no assignment needed. To add more policies, use the dashboard's Manifests page or kyvvu assign-manifest.

Examples

New directory

$ kyvvu init my-agent
✓ Created my-agent/

Next steps:

    cd my-agent

    # Install requirements:
    pip install -r requirements.txt

    # Run the agent -- no account needed:
    python agent.py

With no KV_API_KEY it runs offline against Kyvvu's bundled baseline
(15 policies, OWASP + EU AI Act) and prints its trace here.

To connect it to the platform, set your key and run it again:
    # (open the dashboard, go to Workspace → API Keys, and create one)
    cp .env.example .env # add your KV_API_KEY
    # or: export KV_API_KEY=your-key

Registering applies the same baseline on the platform.
No assignment needed — see them on the Agents page, tagged Baseline.

To add more policies, go to the dashboard:
Manifests page → select a manifest → assign to your agent
Or use the CLI:
    kyvvu list-manifests
    kyvvu assign-manifest --agent-id <id> --repo-id <id> --manifest <path>

Current directory

mkdir my-project && cd my-project
kyvvu init

If the directory is not empty, named or current, you'll be asked to confirm: existing files are overwritten, except an AGENTS.md.
